about Photo - Image With the exponential use of social networking sites, and the large amount of time people are therefore spending online, is there then a danger that we will be seeing an proportionate increase in the geek count sometime soon? about Photo - Image It is now common knowledge that Jason Goldberg is leaving his job as CEO of Jobster, the company he co-founded several years ago. They have recently initiated a search to find his successor, and I for one hope that the replacement has much more of an international vision than Jason does. While he says that Jobster is focused on being a global brand and has made sales trips to the UK, even signing up Alexander Mann Solutions as their UK partner, the Jobster site is still very American centric.
So maybe the new CEO will be able to address these questions if they are serious about moving outside of the USA.

about Photo - Image Good staff within the higher turnover sectors such as retail and restaurants are notoriously difficult to recruit for. But when they do, why do many companies specify that they must have relevant experience? In a service industry surely a character and personality are more important, especially as they provide the customer experience. So how do you recruit these types of staff?

A recently launched YouGov research paper, showed that 62% of young people leaving full-time education haven't decided on a career path. Unfortunately, I think the 'real' is actually higher than that!! It also states that 62% of them turn to their peers and social networking sites such as Facebook for career advice!!! (How long will it take Facebook to latch on to that bit of free publicity??)
The reason why - schools and colleges offer little constructive career advice, if any at all. And when they do, the young people have no respect for it because it is usually delivered by teachers or 'experts' that the young people just can't relate to.

As a longstanding recruiter, I am very well aware of the dreaded six letter world called stress. But, within recruitment (and I am sure many other jobs as well), medium to high stress levels go with the territory. These high stress levels, make all of us perform to our maximum levels don't they? The lovely folks at BUPA have highlighted twelve typical triggers of stress which I have listed below.
Obviously these indicators apply, and I bet 8 out of 12 apply to most recruiters -both agency and client side. But what about the top 12 recruitment stresses that occur every week? I have listed 12 below as a comparison to the BUPA ones, and would welcome any more suggestions.
