What do a camel and corporate recruitment have in common?

        verses a

How can a camel have any relation to corporate recruitment I hear you ask?

There is a well known saying that 'a camel is a horse designed by a committee' - in simple terms, a compromise by many different people.........sound familiar now?

Well the same could be said about the way that many companies approach their recruitment. It seems like their recruitment process is cobbled together by a group of people - some of which don't even understand recruitment.
A thoroughbred horse is a winner, and of course there aren't too many of those around. Some companies could be described in the same way, with visionary companies like Mothercare and McDonalds leading the way with different, clever and enticing career sites and are always looking to change and improve them for the better.
A camel, as the saying goes is a compromise - it is slower, more cumbersome and certainly not very appealing to most people. There are many companies that have career sites that share these characteristics (and no, I don't have to name any because we all know many like that!), and simply have no clear and defined vision as to what they want.

So if your company is currently expecting prospective employees to use a camel to get to work, think again - a thoroughbred is faster, has a much better appearance and appeals to many more people.
