How To Use Google Plus And Pinterest For Recruiting [#SMIR13 Slides]
Yesterday I delivered a workshop masterclass at the Social Media In Recruitment Conference - #SMIR13 - in London. My goal was to enlighten the audience as to the powers of Google Plus with regards to recruitment. It was fun
As always I share my slides from these conferences and they are at the end of the post below.
There are many doubters for Google Plus - citing lack of people using it, lack of engagement and, well, the fact that it is Google behind it!!
Just consider this >> Google is the largest search engine by far. Google owns the second largest search engine - You Tube. And Google owns the second largest social network - Google Plus.
Now think again - is it something you really want to ignore?
Some key points to consider:
- Google Plus is absolutely HUGE for SEO (search engine optimisation)
- You can create your own targeted talent pools (circles) quickly and easily for free
- You can send send content to these targeted talent pools
- Many candidates have full profiles with all their contact details on (!!!)
- You can create and build fully tailored communities
- You have a video conferencing platform for ten people for free - and it is brilliant!
Still think it is a waste of time? Didn't think so!
I also looked at Pinterest as a tool to use in recruiting. It is so flexible - it just needs a little thought from you. You can post images, videos, pdf's, text, links etc on Pinterest. Why wouldn't you use it?
One company, Sodexo, encourages followers to connect directly with the recruitment team and company employees. “It’s a great way to build your employer brand and drive traffic to your sites, it offers a visual of what it’s like to work for your company — it can showcase your corporate culture, values, employees and work environments. And, it’s free and easy to use.”
That may make some Team Leaders/Managers a little uncomfortable - particularly in recruitment agencies, but we are living in a transparent working world no, and it isn't hard to find out who your recruiters are now is it?
Here are the slides, enjoy them and of course if you have any questions, just ask away.
I work with recruitment agencies and corporates to help them helping them understand and leverage the different social media networks to improve their recruitment strategy, recruitment process, candidate attraction, employer branding and content marketing strategy.
