- How all the top tech companies are working together to recruit 4500 jobs via MakeITinIreland
about Good Talent Attraction Is Crucial
What do you get when a recruitment entrepreneur who is passionate about his country gets involved in a recruitment problem? Action, innovation ……. and hopefully results - in this case, many many successful hires for tech companies based in Ireland!
I love this tale from the emerald isle (that's Ireland for you uninitiated!), and I am sure it will prove successful.
A group of "little known" companies - Facebook, Google, Microsoft, Oracle, Symantec, Twitter and Intel have united to promote awareness of the booming technology sector in Ireland and the career prospects for technical, business and multi-lingual professionals.
Despite the economic downturn, Ireland’s technology sector has continued to experience unprecedented growth resulting in a massive demand for skilled professionals.
Ireland, historically known for its high emigration rate, has become a much more multi-cultural society. The number of non-Irish nationals living in the country doubled from 5.8% of the population in 2002 to 12% today. Many of them are working in Ireland’s tech sector which employs 74,000 people directly and some 200,000 people indirectly.
Skills in strongest demand include software developers, online marketing experts, business analysts and multi-lingual staff in sales, support and customer service.
There are approximately 4,500 open positions in the sector. This does not include the number of roles that could be filled if more qualified professionals were readily available.
A website and social media campaign to promote the opportunities and lifestyle available has been created by Zartis, a recruitment software and marketing company.
“Dublin has become one of the world’s leading tech hubs. There are fantastic career opportunities for people with IT, business and multi-lingual skills and it’s one of the best cities in the world to live in,” says John Dennehy, CEO of Zartis.com - the entrepreneur I referred to at the start of the post.

[This has been mainly taken from their press release - with all the big brand names having to agree one release, I wasn't going to change it too much!!]
This is a brilliant initiative, and there is some serious recruiting to be done over in Ireland. But what about other countries/ locations that have similar challenges? Are they doing the same? More importantly how often would you see so many top tech brands working together to attract and recruit talent to a country or region?
Good luck to you all, and well done to John and the Zartis team for pulling the idea together with this group of companies and trying to solve a real recruitment problem in Ireland.
An interesting latest update from John after the first week of the site being live - Twitter is so far producing the highest number of sign-ups. It will be fascinating to see if this continues…

They certainly formed a dynamic front for diverse recruitment engineering based on top to middle talent acquisition. Behind it is a great HR network that rapidly processes information alongside dedicated personnel to catch the quarterly demand of space filling.
